Initially when I started to write this article was intended to be Earning From affiliates 10 Commandments for affiliate marketing. However, while writing I have decided to throw this open to all my readers. This is my starting point, why don’t you comment on this article and together we will build-up the definitive 10 Commandments for Affiliate Marketing which hopefully will then be of use to others entering our industry.
- Choose your niche, product and merchant carefully
- Plan what you are going to do and know where you want to get to
- Know your Niche, be knowledgeable and enthusiastic, focus on what you know best
- Read and understand the Merchants rules and Obey those rules
- Don’t forget your competition, know who they are, know their strengths and weaknesses and don’t take your eye off them and what they are doing
- Monitor your campaigns and tweak where needed
- Write your own original copy. Copy and Paste is not your friend
- Do not SPAM, be that Email, Forums, Blog Comments or Search Engines
- Be Proactive rather than Reactive, look forward and prepare for what is coming up, events such as Christmas, Halloween or Easter and new product launches such as the IPhone or latest Games Console.
- Tell your visitors/customers who you are, be honest in what you are doing.

#7. is a great tip. I think people tend to get lazy and overlook being original. Originality can make or break your sales. No buyer wants to buy something after they read the same sales page on 300 different sites, all for the same product.
